Shade Matching is not an easy procedure, and until you provide your patients with the right shade, your work is half done. Most important thing is the Sintering Temperature. If the temperature is too high the crown’s translucency increases, while if you keep the temperature very low, you will not get the right shade. Zirconia crowns give a more natural translucency than ceramics of other alloys. Also, the type of zirconia you use makes the difference.

If you are using a white Zirconia, especially for full contour restorations, you will have to first pass it through a green state colouring system to prevent washing away of the shade. We provide you with various methods for green state colouring system like the dipping technique, the brush technique, and other advanced techniques which use both the previous techniques. Also, you need to be careful while storing the liquid colours. They need to be stored in a cool and dark place or the colour will be fade away and your prosthetics will not perfectly match.

The crown margins and the right fitting crown is also an important factor. If you don’t take the right fitting, you will end up shading inappropriately, at wrong places, and it will be a poorly aesthetic complaint. Another tip is to photograph the teeth that are to be restored with 2 ( two) shade tabs near the colour of the teeth. By doing this the technicians can match the colour well and the shade will have a longer life. Matching just the tooth shade will not be enough. Matching the gingival shade for the apices is also important and accordingly, the shade should be decided.
